Joining instructions At East Coast Offshore yachting we aim to get you off to a good start. Arriving on the boat with the correct equipment will help you & us.
Joining the boat
You will be contacted 24/48 hrs before you are due to join us to confirm that you have received, read & understood the joining instructions.
Suffolk Yacht Harbour is located just off the A14 between Ipswich and Felixtowe, the post code is IP10 0LN. There is free car parking at the marina.
Courses normally start at 2000hrs unless you have booked & paid to start earlier. We aim to have the boat ready for the agreed start time, if you arrive earlier the boat / instructor may well not be ready for you.
Personal & customer cancellation insurance is not included in the course fee, this can be obtained through the RYA, Lloyds bank or the AA. A lot of travel insurances do not cover sailing courses.
Personal equipment you will need to bring with you.
Deck shoes(you will not be allowed on board without them). Sailing boots (available from Suffolk Yacht Harbour) Oilskins, if you have them. Sleeping bag. Pillow. The following items should fit into a soft bag the size of a pillowcase. Towels - 2 small ones rather than 1 large one. Sun protection - sunglasses, sunscreen for lips & face, hat, long sleeved shirt. Warm clothing (preferably quick drying.) Jeans are not very suitable for sailing. Seasickness remedies & any medication you require. Spare glasses. Mobile phone charger. Passport (you will be entering the country from the sea & we may encounter the Border Agency). Small torch. Clothing with zips or studs in a position that will damage upholstery & teak decking when sitting.
